Abstract
⺠Direct gaze is detected faster than averted gaze under unconscious processing. ⺠This is found by using schematic faces without salient eye whites. ⺠Such direct-gaze facilitation effect requires the eye region only. ⺠Neither facial-expression effect nor its interaction with gaze is found. ⺠This is caused by the absence of low-level features or holistic process.
