Abstract
► Self-identification (S-I) changes with multisensory stimulation (MS). ► S-I and body-ownership rely on similar multisensory mechanisms. ► Interoceptive sensitivity and age modulated the evoked changes in S-I during MS. ► But the multisensory effect on the experience of S-I and body-ownership differs. ► The experience of one's facial embodiment is special, having a unique role as a marker of selfhood.
