Abstract
⺠People vastly overestimate their ability to detect visual changes. ⺠This misapprehension may in part caused by people's understanding of intentional representations. ⺠Participants therefore judged whether a computer program would detect changes. ⺠When the program was described in intentional terms, participants predicted more change detection.
