Abstract
⺠Subliminal pairs of unrelated words were associatively encoded in one single trial. ⺠Subliminal word pairs that shared one word (i.e., overlapping word pairs) were mentally integrated. ⺠The time interval between overlapping word pairs did not affect mental integration. ⺠Consciousness is no requirement for the mental integration of discontiguous events.
