Abstract
⺠Manipulated recognition test list memorability via levels-of-processing. ⺠Collected independent ratings of recollection and familiarity at test. ⺠Both ratings were higher for critical items in the shallow (vs. deep) context. ⺠Challenges previous dissociation found using remember/know judgments. ⺠Suggests recollection and familiarity recognition states are not independent.
