Abstract
► We employ the psychological refractory period paradigm to localize the origin of target priming effects. ► On each trial participants performed an auditory and a visual task. ► When the visual task immediately followed the auditory task priming effects were reduced. ► When the visual task preceded the auditory task priming effects propagated completely to the auditory task. ► Priming effects arise before and at levels of the central processing bottleneck.
