Abstract
⺠We employ the psychological refractory period paradigm to localize the origin of target priming effects. ⺠On each trial participants performed an auditory and a visual task. ⺠When the visual task immediately followed the auditory task priming effects were reduced. ⺠When the visual task preceded the auditory task priming effects propagated completely to the auditory task. ⺠Priming effects arise before and at levels of the central processing bottleneck.
