Abstract
⺠This study investigates online processing of contrastive prosody in Japanese adults and children. ⺠Participants' eye movements were monitored during a visual object detection task. ⺠Adults processed prominence contrastively, but children needed longer time to update discourse. ⺠Prosodic processing develops gradually.
