Abstract
⺠Schizophrenia is characterized by progressive brain loss. ⺠Brain volume loss is more pronounced in poor relative to good outcome patients. ⺠Antipsychotics influence the brain but cannot explain brain volume abnormalities. ⺠Cannabis use, not tobacco smoking, is associated with a larger brain volume loss.
