Abstract
⺠Opioid and related hedonic hotspots in accumbens and ventral pallidum amplify food 'liking'. ⺠Larger striatal networks, including amygdala and neostriatum, generate 'wanting'. ⺠Accumbens shell amino acid and dopamine mechanisms of 'wanting' surprisingly also generate fear. ⺠Mesocorticolimbic activity transforms the value of previously learned memories, without new learning.
