Abstract
⺠We review parallels in brain regions implicated in processing of hedonic reward from drugs of abuse and palatable food. ⺠We discuss the interplay between metabolic signals that monitor energy balance and motivational circuitry that regularities the reward value of food intake and drug use. ⺠We discuss the implications of viewing food overconsumption as a “food addiction”.
