Abstract
⺠Loss of reward is a major source of depressions in humans. ⺠Depression due to loss of reward is termed as “extinction-induced depression” (EID). ⺠Animal models of EID are based on extinction after negative & positive reinforcement. ⺠Major markers of EID are avoidance of site of reward, biting and rearing behavior.
