Abstract
⺠Landmarks and surfaces are two sources of information used in spatial navigation. ⺠Place learning tests in controlled spaces unveil systems of spatial representation. ⺠Arrays of landmarks are used to assess encoding of distance and direction. ⺠Enclosed spaces are used to assess representation of environmental shape. ⺠Comparative work offers insights on the neural and innate bases of geometry encoding.
