Abstract
⺠Food anticipation requires entrainment and metabolic demand. ⺠Light-driven rhythms must be overridden for expression of food anticipatory activity. ⺠Several hypothalamic nuclei integrate circadian and homeostatic information. ⺠Homeostatic mechanisms transiently reduce light-entrained circadian output.
