⺠Current data on cognitive functioning in IBS summarised. ⺠Reviews key factors implicated in the pathogenesis of IBS in relation to cognition. ⺠The cognitive neurobiology of IBS is explored in detail. ⺠A dysregulated brain-gut axis may manifest as cognitive dysfunction.
