Abstract
- Sleep architecture changes are found in most patients with schizophrenia.
- These changes are considered an important part of the pathophysiology of the disorder.
- Sleep changes negatively affect neocortical plasticity and cognition.
- Sleep abnormalities and circadian misalignment are present on the early stages of schizophrenia.
- These abnormalities can be explored as possible predictors of developing a psychotic disorder in at-risk populations.
