Abstract
⺠We developed an innovative experimental protocol to investigate reading processes. ⺠The protocol included letter presentation and voluntary self-paced reading aloud. ⺠We accurately described the reading-related potentials recorded in healthy children. ⺠We identified preparatory, pre-lexical, lexical and post-lexical reading periods. ⺠Our study represents a reference model to study dyslexia and reading disorders.
