Abstract
⺠We examined influences of SOA on frequency and predictability effects in reading. ⺠Three ERP studies used conventional (slow, medium) and a reading-like (fast) SOA. ⺠The timeline of word recognition differed at the fast compared to slower SOAs. ⺠Differences involved early lexical processes, N400 effects, and ERP morphology. ⺠The results point to a special role of a near-normal SOA in word recognition.
