Abstract
► The relevance of sensorimotor representations in verb understanding is evaluated. ► We refer to literature from cognitive neuropsychology and infants' verb learning. ► Brain damage to motor representations can leave unaffected verb processing. ► Infants' verb learning involves conceptual constrains beyond sensorimotor information. ► Sensorimotor information is not necessary for verb learning and understanding.
