Abstract
► We investigated visual word recognition in bilinguals vs. comparable monolinguals. ► The bilinguals were early, highly proficient Finnish-Swedish bilinguals. ► Differences to monolinguals were seen both in the RT and ERP data. ► Bilinguals showed larger effects of frequency, morphology, and lexicality. ► Differences likely reflect lower amounts of language exposure for bilinguals.
