Abstract
► We tested if emotional and linguistic prosodic processing run a similar time-course. ► We report a PEP in response to emotional, linguistic, and combined expectancy violations. ► The latency and distribution of the ERP component differed between conditions. ► This suggests that emotional and linguistic prosody rely on partly differing neural mechanisms.
