Abstract
► We created a set of face images varying in perceived trustworthiness and gender. ► We studied fMRI responses to face trustworthiness and a gender control dimension. ► Amygdala, FFA, OFA and pSTS showed U-shaped responses to face trustworthiness. ► Quadratic U-shaped patterns were also found for the gender control dimension. ► Results suggest that face-selective regions code faces in term of distinctiveness.
