Abstract
⺠We used the repetition paradigm to study how novel metaphors are formed in the brain. ⺠Conventional metaphors elicited repetition suppression within the left IPL region. ⺠Novel metaphors elicited repetition enhancement in bilateral IPL regions. ⺠Novel metaphors became conventionalized in the brain after one repetition. ⺠This study reveals how novel metaphors get processed and conventionalized in the brain
