Abstract
⺠Severely aphasic patients perform well on an experimentally controlled communicative paradigm. ⺠Language and communicative abilities (recipient design and intention recognition) are neurally and functionally dissociable. ⺠Our language abilities are not necessarily involved in understanding other people's intentions.
