Abstract
⺠No classical dissociation of number and letter reading in pure alexia is found. ⺠Some patients show a trend with better reading of numbers than letters. ⺠Normal subjects identify single digits better than letters with brief exposure. ⺠Performance in pure alexia may reflect normal letter/digit processing differences.
