Abstract
⺠Does APOE É4 exhibit “antagonistic pleiotropy”? ⺠Are É4-related cognitive deficits in old age offset by benefits in young adulthood? ⺠The study, the largest to examine these questions (n = 5445), indicates “No”. ⺠Due to the sample size, unlikely the findings are subject to a Type II error. ⺠Neuropathology may play a key role in É4-cognitive relations in both young and old.
