Abstract
⺠Syllable processing is earlier than segmental processing in Chinese spoken word recognition. ⺠Tone plays a role as important as onset and rime in Chinese spoken word recognition. ⺠Chinese listeners perceive Chinese monosyllabic spoken word as a holistic unit. ⺠Computation of Chinese spoken word bases on global similarity within monosyllable.
