Abstract
⺠We examine whether apparent stereotypicality of a target and perspective taking influence stereotyping. ⺠Perspective taking with a stereotype-consistent target increased stereotyping. ⺠Perspective taking with an ambiguous target decreased stereotyping. ⺠These effects occurred for elderly and overweight targets.
