Abstract
⺠Uses a quasi-experimental design based on assignment of university roommates, which avoids self-selection bias. ⺠Living with a roommate with a history of mental health treatment caused an increase in reported stigma. ⺠Effect did not occur, however, among students with a prior treatment history of their own. ⺠the importance of isolating additional components necessary to reduce stigma in contact-based interventions.
