Abstract
⺠We test whether cognitive functioning varies by nativity and age at migration for older Mexican American women and men. ⺠Women and men who migrated in middle-life tend to exhibit higher levels of baseline cognitive functioning than the U.S.-born. ⺠However, only men who migrated in middle-life tend to exhibit a slower rate of cognitive decline. ⺠These patterns confirm that gender is an important conditioning factor in the association between immigrant status and cognitive functioning.
