Abstract
⺠The rate of depression among mothers of children under-5 years ranged from 15% to 21%. ⺠Financial, parenting, and health stressors were associated with depression. ⺠Social support was protective but did not buffer the negative effects of stress. ⺠Single mothers and those with non-regular employment had elevated levels of depression.
