Abstract
► Quantifies the equity-efficiency trade-off when no specific equity relevant attributes exist. ► Introduces a method similar to discrete choice modelling for modelling the trade-off. ► Finds a willingness to sacrifice 37% of life years to achieve other objectives and outcome egalitarianism to be the dominant motivation in the trade-off. ► Concludes that methods for eliciting public preferences should include the effect upon sharing. ► Illustrates how methods might be used for priority setting by policy makers.
