Abstract
⺠GPs in Australia tend to wait for women to disclose their sexual identity, while women wait for GPs to ask, resulting in silence. ⺠This article presents a new model to assist GPs to facilitate the disclosure of women's same-sex attraction within the consultation. ⺠The model explains the social and clinical relevance of women's same-sex attraction, and disclosure as an inter-relational issue. ⺠Interviewing patient-doctor pairs enabled an understanding of the role of relationship-centredness in enhancing sensitivity.
