Abstract
⸠Canadian residential careworkers are 6 times more likely to report daily physical violence than Scandinavian careworkers. ⸠Structural violence is used as a frame to explore the role of social and institutional factors in causing violence. ⸠Rates of violence appear to be related to modifiable structural factors (e.g., workload, autonomy, status, staffing). ⸠The low quality working conditions experienced by Canadian careworkers constitute a form of structural violence.
