Abstract
► There is currently little guidance for the selection of indicators of socioeconomic position in physical activity research. ► This study examined a range of socioeconomic position indicators and their association with leisure-time physical activity among women in 2005 in Melbourne, Australia. ► Findings suggested that education, partner's education and home ownership were independent predictors of women's physical activity. ► These indicators plausibly exert their influence on physical activity via different pathways. ► This work provides guidance for the selection of socioeconomic position indicators in physical activity research among women.
