Abstract
⺠This is a longitudinal examination of the impact of caregiving using perceived stress and two biomarkers of stress in Kenyan Luo elders. ⺠Findings demonstrate that cultural context is important in examining the impact of caregiving on stress. ⺠Caregiving stress is function of gender and differential appraisal within a cultural context. ⺠This study contributes to knowledge about aging outside the developed world and in the context of the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
