Abstract
► Real and perceived discrimination experienced by African migrants act as barriers to their blood donation. ► African migrants are positively predisposed to donating blood and want to make a contribution to their adopted country. ► But African migrants believe that as they are not socially accepted their blood will not be wanted. ► Facilitating blood donation by migrants is one way to foster social inclusion in their new host country. ► Policy needs to foster inclusion as well as incorporate migrants in culturally-relevant messages about inclusion.
