Abstract
⺠Presents a staged decision making model of young adults' alcohol consumption. ⺠Socio-cultural values, norms and expectations reflect planned behaviour. ⺠Drinking is largely intentional, but intentions change from event to event. ⺠Intended behaviour may be modified in light of emergent situational factors. ⺠Generalised, short-term and evaluative orientations guide alcohol decision making.
