Abstract
⺠The logics of 'choice' and 'care' interact in people's accounts of the everyday struggles involved in healthy living. ⺠People resist the logic of choice through 'calls for care'. ⺠The logic of choice works to transform such calls into failed attempts at healthy living. ⺠Supporting healthy living involves recognising how the logic of choice marginalises the logic of care. ⺠Supporting healthy living involves the development of policies around the more enabling logic of care.
