Abstract
► Our study examines if school racial composition affects adolescent depressive and somatic symptoms. ► Black students experienced more depressive and somatic symptoms as the percent of white students at school increased. ► Perceived discrimination and school attachment attenuated this association. ► predominantly-minority schools may lower Black students' depressive and somatic symptoms through greater school attachment.
