Abstract
► A new lattice model is proposed by incorporating the driver anticipation effect to investigate wide moving jams. ► The driver anticipation effect on the stability of traffic flow has been explored. ► The modified KdV equation near the critical point is constructed and solved through nonlinear analysis. ► The numerical results show that the driver anticipation effect can improve the stability of traffic flow in the lattice model.
