Abstract
⺠Irreversible thermodynamics is a power interdisciplinary approach to open systems. ⺠Entropy generation is a quantity useful to obtain their stationary states. ⺠Both maximum and minimum principles of entropy generation exist. ⺠The two principles are equivalent, but they can be used for different aims. ⺠They are useful in biochemistry and biotechnology engineering.
