Abstract
⺠We show that granular dampers are suitable to attenuate the vibrations of mechanical tools. ⺠We show that a recently elaborated criterion for the optimal geometry of a granular damper leads to efficient damping. ⺠We show that the applied granular damper operates about twice as efficient as commonly used attached-mass dampers.
