Abstract
⺠Zipf's law is mathematically equivalent to the hierarchical scaling law. ⺠The Zipf distribution can be transformed into a self-similar hierarchy. ⺠The self-similar hierarchy complies with the generalized 2n rule.⺠From the general 2n rule follows the hierarchical scaling law. ⺠The hierarchical scaling law forms a new way of looking at city development.
