Abstract
⺠We have applied Englert-Schwinger model (ESM) to two problems: the equation of state (EOS) of elements and the fullerene molecule. ⺠The EOS of elements obtained using the ESM gave results which show great improvement over the TFD model and is as accurate as that of TFDW theory. ⺠The cohesive energy of fullerene calculated using March's model shows that the ES theory does not give much improvement over TFD theory. ⺠The ESM gives results close to those of the TFDW model in cases where the physical property depends on the density at the boundary of atom. ⺠In cases where the electron density at the nucleus plays a role, the ESM does not show much improvement over TFD theory.
