Abstract
⺠BPFM allows quantitative description of diffusion mass transport in multi-phase materials. ⺠It deals with composition dependent diffusivities in a two-phase region. ⺠The method determines average stress field during the diffusion process and allows estimating entropy production. ⺠The results can serve as a basis in designing gradient coatings of extended lifetime. ⺠The maximum of the entropy production is close to the interphase boundary with the B2 single-phase zone.
