Abstract
► We refine rumor spreading model considering forgetting and remembering mechanisms. ► We derive mean-field equations of the refined model in inhomogeneous networks. ► Steady-state analysis is carried out, which shows no spreading threshold existing. ► Numerical simulation results show that network topology affects the rumor spreading. ► The forgetting and remembering mechanisms influence the final size of the rumor.
