Abstract
► Transmembrane proteins have significantly higher values for shortest path lengths. ► Spread of hydrophobic residues affects shortest path length in transmembrane proteins. ► Better assortativity is due to highly connected hub residues exposed to the solvent. ► Transmembrane proteins are found to exist in small world networks.
