Abstract
⺠Molecular understanding of thermodiffusion in binary liquid mixtures is achieved. ⺠Gauge-invariant thermodynamic forces give no contribution to thermodiffusion. ⺠Thermodiffusion is due to covariance of enthalpy and particle velocity. ⺠Explicit kinetic expression of thermal-diffusion factor accounts for observations.
