Abstract
⺠We consider the problem of mean first-passage time (MFPT) in quantum mechanics. ⺠We calculate the MFPT of a transition process by a statistical mechanics method. ⺠We discuss transition processes occurring in an environmental background. ⺠We consider a roundabout transition in a hydrogen atom. ⺠We apply the approach to laser theory.
