Abstract
⺠Dissipation can break symmetry in equilibrium. ⺠Broken symmetry is sustainable under equilibrium conditions. ⺠Directed transport under mechanical equilibrium conditions is possible. ⺠Such transport is consistent with energy conservation. ⺠Such transport is also consistent with the second law of thermodynamics.
